    • McDonald Marine is a full-service marine repair facility and Volvo Penta dealer that aims to keep boats on the water, not in the shop.   We achieve this by providing quality products and professional service to both commercial and pleasure craft.  

      With a large, three-bay, shop and well-stocked parts department located just minutes from the ocean and the area's main lake, we're in the ideal location to serve our clients.   Additionally, with a variety of shop vehicles and trailers, we are able to offer remote service solutions when needed.  

      Owner/operator, Jesse McDonald, is a certified journeyman marine mechanic with over 25 years’ experience within the industry. Throughout his career, Jesse has gained extensive experience and knowledge of marine systems (specializing in Volvo Penta), and a network of loyal commercial and pleasure craft clients.  He founded McDonald Marine in 2021 with his wife & business partner Krystal.  Our current team consists of two ticketed mechanics (plus Jesse), a first-year apprentice, and two parts staff. 

      Together, we’re committed to going above & beyond for our clients and working hard to ensure their satisfaction.

    Job Summary
    We are seeking a skilled Marine Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong mechanical background and be proficient in the use of hand and power tools. As a Marine Technician, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining various marine systems and equipment, ensuring optimal performance and safety for our clients.

    Duties

    • Conduct thorough inspections of marine vessels to identify issues and necessary repairs.
    • Perform routine maintenance on engines, electrical systems, and other mechanical components.
    • Utilize hand tools and power tools effectively to execute repairs and installations.
    • Collaborate with team members to troubleshoot complex mechanical problems.
    • Maintain accurate records of work performed and parts used during repairs.
    • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and best practices in all tasks performed.
    • Provide exceptional customer service by communicating clearly with clients regarding repairs and maintenance needs.

    Skills

    • Proficiency in using hand tools and power tools safely and effectively.
    • Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to diagnose and repair various marine systems.
    • Excellent problem-solving skills to address technical challenges efficiently.
    • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
